Emotional Literacy for Children

The following article was written several years ago for the Emotional Literacy News but it is still as applicable today as it was then.

As the former Mental Health Counselor and Teacher, Bonnie M. Bullard, PhD says, “We live by our emotions.” That being the case it would be so much easier working with children if they knew how to describe their emotions. Having the words to describe how they feel the more adults can adjust their responses to what’s happening with the child right away. What children tell us and how they behave gives us cues about how they’re feeling inside. With that information we can focus on the real issues.
